About STRONG FAMILY

GO Project faced a transformative realization when a desperate mother expressed that she would rather leave her children at our orphanage than struggle to care for them herself. This pivotal moment helped us understand that our true mission wasn't building orphanages, but empowering families to stay together. We needed to strengthen families before they disintegrated.

STRONG
FAMILY:FROM VISION
TO REALITY
In 2017, two remarkable women on our GO Africa team, Dr. Alison Barfoot and Rose Kanyunuzi, pioneered a new approach in Kafunjo, a desperately poor village in rural Uganda. Instead of connecting the local church with foreign aid, they moved to Kafunjo and spent weeks understanding the community's challenges. They developed what would become Strong Family - an asset-based approach at the family level combining culturally relevant micro-skills under the spiritual authority of the local church.
The results were transformative - families within the church began to flourish, and the community as a whole began to heal as families shared their knowledge with neighbors. What started in one small village has now grown into a movement spanning multiple countries including Uganda, Ethiopia, DRC, Haiti, India, and Lebanon, serving tens of thousands of children and families. Through our comprehensive platform of training and technology, we're equipping churches worldwide to implement this proven framework, creating lasting positive change for families experiencing the transformative love of Jesus.
